53 Atul Foundation | Annual Report 2024-25 | 52 | Impact assessment Impact assessment was conducted to evaluate a series of developmental initiatives undertaken by Atul Foundation. The assessment covered interventions in health and conservation and is based on field-level observations and third-party evaluations. Assessment by Sewa Rural, Bharuch Atul Foundation Health Center • Developed infrastructure aligned with the Clinical Establishment Act standards. • Completed construction on schedule and procured all medical equipment according to prescribed norms, ensuring full functionality. • Implemented a Hospital Management Information System and trained the team accordingly. • Achieved broad regulatory compliance, with the exception of the pending Clinical Establishment Act registration. Assessment by Centre for Integrated Development, Ahmedabad Watershed project • Conserved 3,160 lakh litres of water during 2021–22 and 2022–23 monsoon seasons. • Preserved 1,321.26 cubic metres of soil and helped to control soil erosion. • Generated 2,628 man-days of employment for tribal communities, thereby supporting livelihood generation in the surrounding regions. Natural Resource Management • Created essential infrastructure to augment irrigation and build awareness of regenerative agricultural practices. • Achieved significant community engagement and strengthened village-level institutions. • Brought 9.7 hectares of land under irrigation and treated 34.41 hectares through soil and water conservation measures. • Enabled 256 farmers to adopt regenerative agricultural practices, resulting in an annual water recharge of 1.2 lakh litres. Miyawaki forest • Transformed 2 hectares of barren land in Haria village into a dense green zone with 47,000 trees comprising 79 native species. • Supported biodiversity in the area, including birds and butterflies. • Enabled the plantation, on maturity, to sequester an estimated 735 tCO2e equivalent per year. Water harvesting and recharging in government schools in Valsad district • Installed water harvesting and recharging systems in 36 government schools across Valsad district. • Achieved an annual recharge of 137 lakh litres of water through these systems. Micro-irrigation systems • Implemented these systems across 24 villages, covering 77.6 acres. • Benefited 86 small and marginal farmers. • Reduced water usage by 20–40%, conserving 776 lakh litres annually and enhanced crop productivity by a similar margin. • Generated an average financial benefit of ` 17.8 lakh per year, with individual gains ranging from ` 12,000 to ` 25,000 per farmer. Sewage treatment plants • Installed 6STPs with a collective capacity of 312 KLD in 3 schools and a college in Valsad to enable the reuse of treated water for gardening and flushing. • Maintained all units well, ensuring they remain fully operational.
