Atul Foundation 2018-19

Chairperson’s foreword Dear All, I amhappy to present you theAnnual Report 2018-19 of Atul Foundation Trust (AFT). Atul Ltd, the promoter of Atul Foundation believes in growing with the community and has been touching lives of many by serving the society since its inception in 1947. AFT is now the umbrella trust for serving the society. During 2018-19, Atul Foundation made further efforts to improve the outreach by enhancing the quality of education - Atul Adhyapikas created a favourable environment that encouraged many dropouts to return to school. Atul Vidyamandir (caters to tribal students) took steps towards becoming a democratic school. The Foundation trained 6,669 students in various vocational courses and provided employment to 393 apprentices in Atul Ltd, much above the statutory limit defined by the Apprentice Act. It built 1,500 individual household toilets in 23 villages in Gujarat, reaching a total of 5,000 toilets so far. It provided relief to 500 families adversely affected due to the floods in Kerala. Since the last quarter of 2018-19, it has focused on improving anganwadis, sanitation and other facilities in primary schools in villages around Atul and Ankleshwar where the Company operates two of its manufacturing facilities. It worked in three villages on the project Sujlam Suflam initiated by the Government of Gujarat for deepening the local water resources. As a part of its initiative to conserve the environment, it planted 4,500 trees in neighbouring areas including 480 native trees, nownamed Atul Vana. th This year, Atul Foundation celebrates the 125 birth anniversary year of the inspiring and pioneering Founder of Atul, Mr Kasturbhai Lalbhai. Between December 2018 and December 2019, various initiatives have been planned to commemorate his contribution. The Foundationwill be supporting 125 patients undergoing dialysis, providing assistance to 125 families to purchase a cow as well as extending a helping hand to 125 families who have specially abled children. Atul Adhyapikas visited 125 schools and conducted workshops on the values espoused by Kasturbhai. Furthermore, 125 students from Atul Vidyamandir performed street plays on health and hygiene in rural schools. The work we do is ever-enriching and the more we experience the joy of giving, the more we are inspired and humbled.
